About This Event

Sawubona • Dumela • Ndaa • Lotjhani • Avuxeni • Goeie dag • Thobela • Molo • Salibonani • Khotso • MmorêToday, as South Africa celebrates Heritage Day, we celebrate the many languages, cultures, traditions, histories and stories that make this country what it is.Heritage lives in our languages. It lives in our food, our dance, our clothing and our traditions. It lives in our stories, our places of worship and our communities. And it lives, perhaps most powerfully, in music — passed from one generation to the next, carrying memory, identity, faith and history with it.It is in this spirit that we excited to announce the return of one of South Africa's most enduring musical institutions.UNTITLED BASEMENT PRESENTSTHE LEGACY SERIESAMADODANA ASE WESILESaturday, 17 October 2026Untitled BasementDoors Open: 18:00Performance: 20:00Tickets: R350For the second time, the legendary Amadodana Ase Wesile return to the Untitled Basement bandstand — bringing with them a musical tradition that has been passed from generation to generation. This is more than a concert. It is a moment of history, heritage, faith and culture.Formed in the 1980s within the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, Amadodana Ase Wesile have become one of South Africa's most beloved and enduring male gospel ensembles. For decades, their voices have carried stories of faith, hope, community and resilience across generations and beyond the walls of the church.Their unmistakable sound — built around rich vocal harmonies, powerful a cappella arrangements and deeply rooted African choral traditions — has become an important part of South Africa's musical heritage. From church pews to some of the world's most prestigious stages, Amadodana Ase Wesile have continued to preserve and evolve the tradition of African male gospel music.Their music speaks across generations. It connects memory with the present. And it reminds us of the extraordinary cultural histories carried through the human voice. With Ten South African Music Awards (SAMAs) to their name and a remarkable catalogue spanning decades, Amadodana Ase Wesile remain one of the country's most significant gospel ensembles. Now, they return to the Basement.Their second appearance on our bandstand is particularly meaningful to us. Untitled Basement has always been interested in creating space for artists whose work forms part of the broader South African cultural story — artists whose music deserves to be experienced not only as entertainment, but as living heritage. To welcome Amadodana Ase Wesile back is therefore a special privilege. But most importantly, expect to experience a group whose music has become part of the soundtrack of generations of South Africans.THE LEGACY SERIESA celebration of the artists, sounds and stories that have shaped who we are.Tickets are limited.Happy Heritage Day to you all and your loved ones. ????May we continue to celebrate, preserve and share the stories, traditions and cultures that make us who we are.
